Instantly Reduce Hunger, Burn Fat, Make Your Heart Healthier, and also Naturally Control Food Cravings … While Your Body Does All Of The Work!
What fuel is your body running on?
Likely, your response is carbohydrates, like Pizza, Pasta, Potatoes, Fruit, and other Sugars.
“Butter up and thrive” will show you all the benefits from running on FAT vs CARBS/SUGAR. It will show you how the ketogenic diet works, how to apply it to your life and how you will benefit from this change.
My name is Jürg Maier and I started my ketogenic journey some 4 years ago. In summer 2014 I suffered a physical breakdown that ended in the emergency room. I have absolutely no recollection of how I got there. The last thing I remember was laying on the floor in my bathroom, waiting for the ambulance. It was later diagnosed as an epileptic seizure / epileptic pattern.
But let’s scroll back some 40 years. I suffered from headaches all my life, joined by migraines every so often. Having no clue where all of these symptoms were coming from, I thought it was a late effect of a skull fracture I had as a kid.
After the episode that summer, I was put on epileptic meditation, presumably for the rest of my life. As I did not want to be on medication for the rest of my life and my wife gave me the feedback that my personality was changing to the worse under the medication, I started researching for other ways to get better.
More and more I stumbled upon the effects of food on your overall health. I never gave much thought to what I ate, I had no weight problem and no allergies, so why care. Food could have an impact on your weight, ok, but on your brain? Food actually healing you, not just “not making your sick”? So one day I came across the ketogenic diet (KD) that has been used since the 1920s for the treatment of epilepsy.
This is when my life started to change for the better. I started cutting sugars out of my diet. Soon I followed with cutting carbs, and adding healthy fats to my diet. A big thank to Tim Ferriss and Dave Asprey, as I got my first steps with a low carb lifestyle through their works. Bullettproof coffee is part of my day ever since.
So what happened next? I got off the medication, regained my old personality, the headaches got reduced dramatically (from 4 a week to 1 a quarter) and the migraines left for good, never had one ever since I changed my diet. So having my brain run on fat for fuel instead of glucose has had a huge impact on my quality of life. And I am aware that such a drastic impact serves as great motivation to keep going and sticking to the diet. Although I prefer to call it a lifestyle change, not a diet. Of course, going full KETO might not be for everyone, but following a stricter low carb – high fat diet will benefit most everyone.
Some of the obvious benefits include:
Weight Loss: Due to lowered insulin levels and the body’s ability to burn stored fat, those who adhere to the diet find that they lose weight more quickly than with conventional diets.
Clarity of Mind: An unbalanced diet can lead to lack of mental clarity, and it feels like a foggy brain. People find it difficult to remember facts or struggle with staying focused on tasks. The keto diet, by helping the body burn fat as energy, sends energy to the brain and helps it to stay focused.
Improve Productivity: Many people are not aware that ketones are a more efficient energy source than glucose. And for the brain, energy is everything. This type of energy helps better protect the brain — and the rest of the body — from oxidative stress, which negatively affects mental performance and brain aging. Improved mental performance, improved clarity, improved memory all combine to improve productivity.
As we live in a knowledge age, with people spending more and more time infront of the computer and less and less performing physical demanding work, the above will greatly benefit them. Who doesn’t know the carb-comma after lunch? Its gone, as there is no major drop in bloodsugar an hour after lunch.
As I am traveling quite a bit on my day job as a Global Account Manager for an international IT company, I know the challenges of a Keto Diet on the road. I hope to address some of these and how to solve them with easy workarounds, tips and tricks.
